Dear Explorer Families,
On behalf of the faculty and staff at Wicklow Elementary Magnet School for Global Pathways, I welcome you and your child to the 2023-2024 school year. There are numerous choices both inside and outside of the public school system and we appreciate the trust you have placed in us to be your child’s educational partner for the 2022-2023 school year. At Wicklow, we will “GO WILD” by “Answering the Call for Learning!”
The world is at our fingertips and there is so much to learn and see! Therefore, having an Explorer mentality will be useful for successfully navigating the challenges of a global community. It is our contention that a high-performing school is more than just one that shows high student test scores. We believe that to be a high-performing school, scholars must be provided opportunities to grow and learn across a transdisciplinary curriculum. As an authorized International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme World School, Wicklow Elementary prepares scholars to be lifelong learners through a focus on ten IB Learner Profile attributes.

There is no doubt that the last few school years have been difficult for students and families. Unfortunately, the global pandemic is still showing its effects on all schools and our scholars are not an exception. At Wicklow this year, we strive to provide a safe environment and encourage a renewed sense of family engagement. We know that a strong partnership with families is what is needed to promote student success and build community relations. Throughout the school year, we will be hosting Academic Parent Teacher Teams (APTT) evening events. Please look for more information with details. Expect increased engagement in the home/school partnership

Our scholars will also be given targeted help and/or enrichment during WIN (What I Need) time each day. Learning needs to be individualized and differentiated to truly help all students grow. Please pay particular attention to Wicklow’s Expectations for Reading, Writing, and Algebraic Thinking to understand your child’s present level of performance and where he/she will need to go.
