Student Clubs & Activities

AR Club

Accelerated Reading (AR) is one tool that teachers use to help their students with motivation and comprehension. After a student readers a book, they can take a comprehension test on the computer about the book to check for understanding. Each book awards points after the completion of the test, and typically the bigger the book the more points it is worth. Student use their points to purchase goodies at the AR store and set personal goals for how many points they want to achieve. Additionally, each grade level has a specific point goal and if students reach that goal then they get a Wicklow AR shirt to wear every Friday and be a part of the AR Club!

Chorus Club

For the 2022-2023 school year we had over 50 students audition and have now accepted 30 students.

Cross Country

Wicklow Cross Country is an after school club that meets once a week. Scholars in K-5 are able to join and learn skills such as speed and endurance as well as being part of a Team. The members of Cross Country are invited to participate in 5-6 county meets through the year.

Gardening Club

Students in 2nd-5th grade are helping replant and maintain a butterfly garden.  This allows students to learn gardening skills and help make our campus beautiful.  The scholars are also learning vital information about how to maintain these garden areas and keep them free from pests.  They are also learning environmental friendliness by keeping our campus free from debris.  In the spring, we will be planting fruits and veggies and beautifying the concrete able area.

National Junior Beta Club

The National Junior Beta Club is an honor organization that recognizes outstanding academic achievement, promotes strong moral character and social responsibility, encourages service to others, fosters leadership skills, and provides settings for youth to develop strong interpersonal skills.

NEHS

National Elementary Honor Society (NEHS) recognizes students in elementary schools for their outstanding academic achievement and demonstrated personal responsibility. Through NEHS, students provide meaningful service to the school and community and develop essential leadership skills. NEHS supports these purposes by strengthening the lives of our nation’s elementary students and the schools in which they are enrolled.
